VITAL Help
BHC (Basic Health Centre) in Noon Bagla is basis of Hope to huge population of the area. Our record shows that people come from distant villages walking on foot for two to three hours. The reason is nonexistence of reliable health facilities and lack of health professionals in the area. Initially our plan was to build the facility, run it for a year and then hand it over to the local government authorities but, the people, who are the actual owner of the facility don’t want us do, as we planned. They humbly request AHS Foundation to run, manage and supervise the health centre.

FINDINGS & RESULTS
We were not expecting that the facility will become such a big respite for women, children and elders. Our computerized record from April 2012 shows that the service is more fruitful than presumed, and is benefiting majority of circumscribed to environment women, children or older people of region who come from as far as two hours and a half or more walking on foot.
FACILITATION TO OTHER PROGRAMS
We don’t vaccinate but facilitate the vaccination programs. Every Monday the EPI (Immunization Program) and once in a month officially deployed government teams for Mother Child Care use our facility for women and children. We’ve provided space for vaccine storage and record at our BHC. Mothers bring their children for schedule immunisation every Monday. Other national or international campaigns regarding health are conducted from AHS BHC not only free of cost, but we also arrange for their food and refreshment at our BHC so that they can easily serve the people.

OWNERSHIP
People, who reach the facility for help are the owner of BHC. Local community team called HMC (Hospital Monitoring Committee) selected by the community on AHS Foundation’s demand is actively involved and plays role of their part. The HMC works freely on behalf of the community. It is a platform for the people to give their opinion regarding services, attitude, atmosphere, and or complains as well as a source of information for AHS Management. Infect, HMC is the body who takes decision for local staff, takes care of the facility, and advices or proposes AHS Foundation. Chairman of HMC and two members who are available at anytime are selected from Noon Bagla by the public. This committee is assisted by at least one or two community leaders from each surrounding villages who sit together once in a while to view, review, suggest or request the activities. Our management and the public don’t interact directly but both sides use this body as bridge, to avoid any misunderstanding, favoritism, individual involvement and other issues regarding public deal.
ATMOSPHERE
Safe, secure and friendly atmosphere at our BHC prevails for everyone. We make sure that those who come to seek help, must feel a sense of ownership, maintaining their prestige and ego they get their humanity right not a donation or a favor but a friendly gift. It is therefore, the people feel it home when they visit BHC particularly the women and the children with complete trust and hope. Not a single individual ever tried to harm the facility or neglect caring for it.

MEDICAL CAMPS
When possible and available, we conduct medical camps or facilitate other Social Organizations to do the same. We do our best to get qualified physician, gynecologist, ENT and child specialist. Since the population of the area is thinly scattered in vast area, we announce through verbal message, leaflets, phone calls and megaphone announcement from each village mosque prior to the date of camps. We thank Mrs. Saleha Khawaja, Zakia Abbasi, ALSHIFA EYE TRUST, RURAL HEALTH, RDN CHIKAR, and others who come to help.
